There are a total of 9 baths in the Inn; 5 which are private (you can enter and lock the door and have it all to yourself) and 4 that are communal baths: one each for men and women-inside and 2 outdoor communal baths (“rotenburo”). Kanaguya’s hot spring water comes from 4 different sources of hot springs in the mountains surrounding the inn. He realized the trunk of the tree was so large that it provided enough material for carving two statues of the eleven-headed Kannon. The statue he commissioned to be carved from the lower part of the truck was enshrined in Hasedera Temple near Nara; the statue from the upper half (actually the larger of the two) was thrown into the sea with a prayer that it would reappear to save the people.
